Playtesting release !


Time for some early access and playtest!

I have been working on this game for quite some time now ! This is a 2D air combat (or dogfight) game. I tried to keep it it simple while integrating some twists (super powerful bombs) and micro-management components (need to collect coins to buy bullets, bombs, ...).

Now I finished up the online networking, I believe it is a good time to collect feedback and steer the development in directions the potential players may suggest.

You are a prabbit (mix of rabbit and parrot) who needs proving they are the best pilot in their class by winning a last man standing tournament. Beware your ammunition and the perm death bombs!

The rules are:

- you need to win 5 rounds to win a tournament
- to be killed by a perm death bomb eliminate you from the tournament

Hence, even if you have no victories, you can still make a twist and win the tournament by using successfully a bomb.



Development so far...

The development have been quite bumpy. I started to implement the multiplayer with Unity's Multiplayer High Level API and it was ... kind of a nightmare... Many nights of debugging and trying to find ways around awkward choices made by the API developers...  It seems that it was not just me struggling to use their Multiplayer API: Unity recently decided to deprecate their Multiplayer High Level API. 

Because of that, I had to switch to Photon and rewrite all the networking! But I am glad I did!  The multiplayer is much more stable and simpler to manage :) ! Now that the multiplayer code is ready, I thought it was a good time to get some feedback on the game. I have in fact many ideas I want to try for this game, and this devlog and early access version will help me filtering them out.

Playtesting and Feedback

The game is aimed at being played with friends on a couch with some pizza and beer (or any other food/beverage :) ! ). I think of it as a party-game, something like Towerfall Ascension that aims at strengthening friendly bounds through some competition. That's why there is a tournament elements where a player needs to get 5 victories to win a tournament. But still, I coded the online multiplayer so that friends who are away from each others can still have fun !

Hence when giving your ideas/comments, keep in mind that the game does not aim to be a professional/esport multiplayer game. I do like the idea of adding some complicated features/techniques for regular players who want to play it with skill and strategy. But I also want to keep it accessible; focusing on having fun with friends who might not be "gamer" friends.
